JERRY RUSSO ORAL HISTORY COLLECTION - ARTISTS DURING COVID 19: Norma I. Quintana

Quintana, a photographer, and her husband live in Napa Valley, California. When COVID-19 hit she had a very interesting reaction to what was happening. In 2017, Quintana lost her home to the fires in Napa Valley and her family was homeless for about three months. They just moved into their new home about three months before the pandemic started. Quintana felt somewhat prepared for this emergency because of her experience with the regular outbreak of fires in California. The mandate to stay home because of COVID-19 felt familiar in a strange way. She could relate to the fear and the anxiety of the pandemic after the experience of losing her home and her belongings.
